Practice fit
Who this pack is for
Preschool and kindergarten learners exploring picture paths with a parent, teacher or homeschool educator. Choose according to the activity the child wants to try; the audience label is not a fixed-age requirement.
Scope boundary
When to choose another pack
These pages practise one line movement, rather than letter formation, alphabet recognition or a full handwriting course. Drawing freely or trying a meaningful name letter can also be a useful choice today.
Inside the PDF
Six picture activities for vertical lines
The complete PDF has six activities of the same line type, with 5 paths per page. Scenes and path geometry vary. Print a page you want; finishing every path or all six pages is optional.
Choose one scene
Use the page directory below to find an activity. Each activity occupies one A4 page in this ready-made PDF.
Show one journey
Point to the solid dot, follow the arrow and demonstrate the path to the hollow diamond. A finger journey is also an option.
Draw another way
For a free route, choose two places on spare blank paper and invite the child to connect them. These printed pages contain guided paths, not a separate free-drawing box.
Choose a picture activity in the PDF
Page numbers below match the complete file. Select the wanted page in your print dialog; these are not separate page downloads or a required teaching sequence.

How to practise with the pack
- 01
Choose one picture activity together and print its page. The remaining pages can wait for another occasion.
- 02
Point to one solid starting dot. Show how to travel downwards, following the arrow to the hollow diamond at the destination.
- 03
Invite a finger journey, then offer a comfortable crayon, marker or pencil if the child wants to trace. Leave other paths empty when enough has been tried.
- 04
Notice one feature together: finding the start and arriving at the chosen destination. Demonstrate again, draw freely or stop when wanted.
Choose a picture path, demonstrate a finger journey and adjust the invitation with the child. Includes plain-paper drawing ideas.
Self-check after one short session
- Can we find the starting dot and follow one path downwards to its hollow destination diamond?
- Can the adult demonstrate one journey and let the child choose whether to try?
- Would a shorter path, a finger journey, plain-paper drawing or stopping be more useful now?
Common mistakes to avoid
- 01
Treating six pages or every printed path as a quota.
- 02
Beginning at the hollow destination diamond instead of the solid starting dot.
- 03
Shrinking the whole page to make a path shorter, which also shrinks the pictures and guidance.
Questions about this pack
Does this PDF include all three line types?
This edition contains vertical lines only, with six picture activities. Choose a different Preschool edition for another line type, or Warm-up patterns for the original nine-pattern PDF.
Should the child finish all six pages?
No. Choose one scene and a comfortable number of paths. A finger journey, free drawing or stopping can be the whole activity.
Where can the child draw a route of their own?
Use spare blank paper and choose two places to connect. The six printed activity pages have guided paths and do not include a separate unguided drawing area.
Can I change the path length or number of paths?
Yes. Open the Lines generator and manually choose Preschool line tracing and Vertical lines. Adjust Path length and Paths per activity, or select One activity. The PDF here stays a six-page A4 collection.
