Adult print practice pack

Adult Print Legibility Foundations Pack

An eight-page print sequence that moves from lowercase shape groups to spacing, baseline control, a pangram, and an independent paragraph.

This free A4 adult print pack contains 8 focused worksheets for lowercase height, tall letters, descenders, open counters, letter spacing, word spacing, baseline control, and independent copy. The default Delius Edition combines tracing and copy pages and is intended as a ready-made drill surface, not a complete handwriting-improvement method or assessment. Preview page 1, download the full PDF, or open the Print generator to replace the text or font.

Practice fit

Who this pack is for

Use this pack when individual letters are recognizable but everyday notes vary in height, spacing, counter openness, or baseline. It is written for adults and older students rather than early letter recognition.

Scope boundary

When to choose another pack

Use the lowercase alphabet Pack if letter forms are still unfamiliar. Use the adult improvement Blog for a complete practice schedule and decision method; this page only owns the ready-made PDF.

Inside the PDF

What is inside the 8-page pack

The list below follows the actual page order in the downloadable PDF.

  1. 01

    Lowercase Height Practice

Keep middle-zone lowercase letters at a repeatable height, first in shape groups and then in words.

    Check: Do the main bodies of a, c, e, m, n, o, r, s, and u stay within a similar middle-zone height?

  2. 02

    Tall Letter Practice

Keep ascenders and tall print forms clearly higher than the middle zone without changing their basic shape.

    Check: Are b, d, f, h, k, l, and t clearly taller than the neighbouring middle-zone letters?

  3. 03

    Descender Practice

Keep descenders below the baseline at a repeatable depth while preserving recognizable turns and tails.

Check: Do g, j, p, q, and y extend below the baseline without colliding with the next ruled row?

  4. 04

    Open Counter Practice

Preserve visible interior space in rounded letters so common print forms remain easy to distinguish.

Check: Do a, e, and o retain visible interior space when copied without tracing the model?

  5. 05

    Letter Spacing Practice

Keep letters within each word close enough to read as one unit without crowding or accidental joins.

Check: Are the gaps inside each word reasonably consistent without letters touching or splitting the word apart?

  6. 06

    Word Spacing Practice

Make the blank space between words clearly wider than the smaller gaps inside each word.

Check: Can every word boundary be identified quickly, including the final third of the line?

  7. 07

    Baseline and Pangram Practice

Apply letter-height and spacing control across a complete pangram while keeping the baseline level.

Check: Does the copied sentence stay level and uncrowded through the final words?

  8. 08

    Independent Print Copy

Combine height, open counters, spacing, and baseline control in one short original paragraph.

Check: After the model is covered, are the letter zones, counters, word spaces, and baseline still easy to read?

How to practise with the pack

  1. 01

Use one module at a time and circle one repeated problem instead of rewriting the whole Pack in one session.

  2. 02

On tracing pages, compare shape and height; on copy pages, compare spacing and baseline after the model is removed.

  3. 03

Keep the same pen, paper scale, and font Edition for one comparison round.

  4. 04

Repeat only the page that reveals a stable, specific target.

Self-check after one short session

  • Are middle-zone letters kept at a repeatable height?
  • Do a, e, and o remain open enough to identify quickly?
  • Is the space between words clearly wider than the space inside a word?
  • Does the final third of a line remain level and uncrowded?

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. 01

Changing the target font before identifying whether height, spacing, or baseline is the real issue.

  2. 02

Copying quickly from the model without checking the independent line.

  3. 03

Trying to make every letter decorative instead of keeping common forms repeatable.

Questions about this pack

Is this the complete method for improving adult handwriting?

No. This page provides the ready-made drill PDF. The adult improvement guide owns the broader method, schedule, and decision process.

Which font should I choose?

Start with the default Delius Edition for a neutral print model. Use the font guide before switching Editions, and change only the font while keeping the same exercise sequence.

Should I practise all eight pages every day?

No. Use one page that matches the visible problem, then repeat it only long enough to compare two controlled attempts.

Download and print the complete pack
