Cursive paragraph copy practice

Cursive Passage Practice Pack

Six connected everyday passages for practicing readable cursive beyond individual words and sentences.

This six-page A4 cursive passage practice PDF contains six original paragraphs in Prima Cursive. Light-gray solid models repeat within each page, with a blank Copy row beneath each model. Cover all models and use an unused row or separate ruled paper for a new two- or three-sentence paragraph. For writers who already recognize cursive letters and common joins. It is not a first alphabet or stroke-order course. The complete file is free and needs no account.

Practice fit

Who this pack is for

Writers who can already write the model’s basic cursive letters and recognize common joins. Adults can choose a short passage for repeated practice.

Scope boundary

When to choose another pack

This does not teach a first cursive alphabet, prescribe universal stroke order, or promise faster writing. The Adult Print pack and Cursive Flow pack have different foundational tasks.

Inside the PDF

Six passages to return to

Choose one scene and one target. Each complete passage uses four to eight model rows before repeating within the page. You do not need to copy every repetition.

Start with a short scene

Pages 1–2 use three linked sentences across four model rows.

Follow a process or a change

Pages 3–4 use four sentences across six model rows.

Sustain a longer idea

Pages 5–6 extend to eight model rows, followed by a separate short paragraph of your own.

Passage directory

These are connected paragraphs with intentional model-row breaks, not separate sentence drills.

  1. Page 01A place by the window · 4 model rows
  2. Page 02A short walk · 4 model rows
  3. Page 03Preparing a small task · 6 model rows
  4. Page 04An afternoon change · 6 model rows
  5. Page 05Sharing a useful idea · 8 model rows
  6. Page 06Plans for the next day · 8 model rows

How to practise with the pack

  1. 01

Read the complete passage. Write small table once on spare ruled paper and choose one target: a recognizable join, word spaces or line endings.

  2. 02

Look at one phrase, then copy each model row into the blank row directly beneath it. Read across row breaks as part of the same paragraph.

  3. 03

Cover all repeated model rows. Write a new two- or three-sentence paragraph about a similar scene in unused Copy rows or on separate ruled paper; the PDF has no dedicated independent-writing area.

  4. 04

Uncover and compare only your chosen target. If a letter or space is unclear, return to that word or phrase with the model visible before trying a paragraph again.

Practice readable cursive paragraphs

Compare word boundaries, follow a phrase into a paragraph, then cover the models and check a new short passage.

Self-check after one short session

  • Can you identify each word without guessing from the original passage?
  • Are word gaps clearly larger than the gaps inside joined words?
  • Do the joined letters keep their recognizable shapes?
  • Do line endings fall between whole words without squeezed letters?

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. 01

Connecting across a word boundary or closing a letter opening to maintain an unbroken stroke.

  2. 02

Treating a new model row as a new sentence when the sentence continues.

  3. 03

Trying to fit the whole long model into unused Copy rows instead of using separate paper.

Questions about this pack

How is this different from the Cursive Words and Sentence Flow Pack?

Flow works through short words, spacing and sentences, ending with one paragraph. This pack supplies six different connected passages for writers who already have that foundation.

Do I copy the whole passage independently?

Copy one complete passage row by row first; you can skip later repetitions. Then cover all models and write a new two- or three-sentence paragraph in unused Copy rows or on separate ruled paper. The PDF does not include a dedicated independent area.

Must I connect every letter without lifting my pen?

No. Keep letter identity and word boundaries clear. Use the selected model as a reference, with natural pen lifts where needed; do not connect across word spaces.

Is there an Adult Print edition?

This download contains Prima Cursive only. Use the existing Adult Print pack for print foundations and its paragraph exercise, or the Print generator for your own passage.

Download and print the complete pack

Print on A4 in portrait orientation at Actual Size or 100%. Compact four-line writing guides are 0.35 inch high, with diagonal slant guides. Check that the light-gray models and guidelines remain visible in your print preview.

The maintainer exported and supplied these six pages and the matching page-1 PNG. The pages were merged in the listed order without redrawing their content. Light-gray solid models repeat within each page with paired blank Copy rows; no dedicated independent area is included. Exact opacity and color values are not inferred from the finished file. Practice and download activity do not establish learning gains.
